Technology

Throughout the week I feel my students are exposed to a variety of technology in the classroom. First of all, students are currently using iPods for reading and math activities. One of my struggles right now is finding time for students to use them. I currently have them in a station for reading and also students may use them when they finish their math work. However, it seems to be the same students over and over. I have a few students who take a long time to do their independent work that they usually have no time to work with the iPod. In addition, I am still in search for apps that students may use in the classroom. I have a few that address language art and math skills but I am constantly searching for other ones. One barrier is that of time. There are many things to take care of that sitting down and finding time to search for more has been difficult and non existent.

Another way is through my Promethean board. Every day students rotate through a station in which they get to work with the Promethean board in a small group where they work with spelling words or even vocabulary words. Students are also exposed to it through many of our class activities.

We also have  student computer in the classroom. During a small group with the Promethean board, one student from the group will work on the student station which could be with any number of websites or programs. Students usually have the choice of what they would like to work on.

Here are some other ways my students experience technology in the classroom.
1. document camera * I love having this in the classroom. I great way to share student work with the class.
2. activotes
3. compass learning
4. internet and other websites
