My students are becoming more independent with technology in the classroom. Many of them are able to problem solve some issues they are having while working on the Promethean board or some of them are clever enough to find students who know what to do. When I am working with small group in reading, I am not able to stop and assist them so this is great to see.
This past month, my classroom was able to receive a student computer station that students could work on during class time. I am still finding ways to keep students on it throughout the day and to keep student interest and motivation with it. The students can not wait to have their turn on it. I need to continue to do a better job of keeping them on it throughout the day. So far students are using it for our LEAD 21 reading series, spelling city, and our new compass learning software. There are so many great things online that it is hard to choose as to what they should do.
In addition, I am excited to work with our new compass learning program that our district purchased for this school year. My students have been going into the lab during our RtI time and completing self paced activities, quizzes, and assessments in regards to math ideas. I am still hoping to grow and learn more about this program and how it can benefit our students. So far, the students have enjoyed working on it. I am still waiting for NWEA MAP math data to be loaded so student can work on things according to their MAP scores.
