Changing Education Paradigms

Changing Education Paradigms

One thing that caught my attention is the way he made reference to education as an assembly line. I did not think of it in terms of a factory line as we group them by age and subject and move them on down the road so to speak. How were teachers able to do it long ago when they only had one room school houses with a variety of ages and grade levels to teach?

Another thought that he presented was along the lines of having to recognize that most great learning happens in groups. He also said that "collaboration is the stuff of growth." If collaboration contributes towards great learning, how can we as educators allow our students more time to work together and in groups? But then again, we are spending a lot of time teaching social skills so students can learn to work together.
