I finally received 7 ipods for students to use in the classroom. It has been a long process but finally I have them. The past few days I have spent time loading apps and charging the ipods for students to use.
I then began working with a few students on how to care and take care of the ipods. So far, these students have been working on addition and subtraction facts a few minutes each morning. I am hoping to allow students to use them during reading and math time. I am hoping to have them work with addition, subtraction, time and money to help build on those important 2nd grade skills. I have not had a lot of success in finding apps for language arts other than a few word building apps.
Time has been a huge barrier in allowing me to search for apps that I want to use with my students. At the moment, I do have the seven ipods for one month and I am going to students become familiar with the apps that I currently have loaded on them. I think they will be motivated and excited to be able to work with the ipods independently.
I am excited to be able to take on this piece of technology with my students.
Another teacher is doing the same thing and I have been sharing my joys/concerns with her. I also have been sharing those apps with her.
Are there any websites that have a list of great "free" educational apps?
How can I use the ipods for reading and comprehension?
How can I record students reading stories so they can listen to each other?
How can I incorporate the use of them in all subjects?
How exciting! When you are able to answer your own questions I'd like to know too.
